Mia graduated from law school in 1988 and, after a three-year judicial clerkship, entered private practice in Charleston in 1991. Over the years Mia has been both a defense and a plaintiff’s lawyer, primarily handling personal injury cases. In 2019 Mia realized that her most content days were the ones which included baking a pound cake. A few months later that realization morphed into a new business - Pound Cake Adventures - which eventually led to the purchase of Sugar Bakeshop in 2022.
While Mia has always enjoyed good relationships with her clients over the years, she has discovered that people are particularly happy to see her when she supplies a pound cake or the cupcakes—a response that exceeds anything she ever experienced when giving legal advice!
